You open the Next catalogue (hang on, catalogue?? How old am I???) and quite fancy the look of the overall room, so you buy that armchair and you think jobs done… This does kill me slightly. The best design decision you can ever make for your house is to ensure that whatever you buy and make for it - is that you LOVE it. Through the process to my first client we realised she was a wild maximalist, all I did was give her the confidence to follow through. Yes, with every design there are rules: proportion, colour balance, styling however if the channel for design decisions has to run past anything, it should first be your soul.
