Whether you have an individual portrait, a gallery wall or a select cluster of images - try to consider not only the artwork content, but the complimentary frame and size of the mount.
Group the content by theme - a group of holiday photos for example - and ensure the colours are either complimentary or contrasting.
Imagine how empowering it would be to read "The world needs who you were made to be" before you left your home to go about your business??
Practically, other loose rules that you need to consider:
1) Eye-level is around 1500mm from the floor, so centralise any mirrors or pictures at this point.
2) Centralise the artwork over furniture, not centred to the wall. For example if you have a piano to one side, and then a sofa - focus the atwork above each individual piece of furniture.
3) Don't think about just framing household photos, think about using a graphic, a painting, a local artist.
4) Will the frame be white, black, a mix of woods? Yellow? Pink bobbing?
5) Will the photo take up the full size of the frame? Or could it be centred with a a larger mount! So many decisions!
